Hello!
JAN 26, 2012 Update: I had a ski lease member drop out of my
lease due to a move back to NY. As a result I have one
member spot available immediately through the end of the ski
lease on May 13th. I’ve reduced the price from $1,200 to $800 + $150
utility deposit to account for the time already eclipsed in
the lease.
Do you live to ski or snowboard? Are midweek powder days the only sick days you have all year? Tired of ski leases that end just when the good spring skiing is just getting started? If so, we have the ski lease for you. We are looking for a few new members to join our ski lease in Kings Beach, North Lake Tahoe. Our lease starts earlier than most and ends later. We will open the lease on December 30th for the New Years celebration and end the lease on May 13th ensuring you get the most for your money and the lowest per day costs around.
A little about us to start and the type of members we are looking for. We have run or been a part of running multiple ski leases over the past decade, but had a few losses this year to parenthood, relocation, etc… We’ve had a few good friendships develop and many days of powder and nights of eating, drinking, and merrymaking. We have a wide range of abilities, from beginners to advanced riders and skiers. We’re very easy to know and get along with group, mostly in their late 20′s to early 40′s. I say mostly, because my wife and I have a little girl who just loves the snow and playing in it. That said – we are a family-friendly lease and would love to have a play pal for our little girl during the season too.
We all love to snowboard and ski, thoroughly enjoy hanging out in the evenings having group dinners, and having great conversations by the fire over a few pints or glasses of wine. We are not a wild party house, but a group of working professionals looking for fun and interesting people to share our Tahoe experience.
Some of us are up at the crack of dawn for first chair on those deep powder days and are among the last off the hill. Others are more leisurely and enjoy a relaxing pace. On the avy-safe days, you might find us in the slack/side/backcountry, enjoying Tahoe in its pristine glory and would love to have like-minded members that can partner up with for backcountry riding as well.
Our place sleeps a maximum of 14, plus couches and air mattresses if utterly necessary. Never fear though, as we will have a total of 13 members, one of which is a toddler, ensuring beds for all members and at least one guest per weekend. It may seem like a lot, but we’ve found there is only once or twice a season where the house is completely full with multiple guests. Members always get priority for beds. Currently, we have six openings left for the season. Should everyone get along, this lease will be available for years to come and most likely future years will include most of December (excluding Xmas week) for a nominal rental increase.
THE CABIN
A beautiful 3-bedroom plus sleeping loft, 2-bathroom townhouse with 2 decks in Kings Beach, right off 267. We’ve got probably one of the most central locations in all of Tahoe. We’re one mile from the lake and all the restaurants, wellness center which has a beach, and Lake Tahoe Wellness Center, which has yoga classes, massage, and a climbing wall. http://www.laketahoewellnesscenter.com and two miles from the North Shore casinos.

GUESTS
Guests are welcome, when accompanied by a member, for a guest fee of $25 per night, per guest. Members have priority over guests for bed space. If you plan to bring a guest on a weekend, we will have an online Google calendar to help with planning. We usually have an email thread going by Tuesday for the upcoming weekend. No more than 4 visits (or trips) per guest, if they need to come more often, they should get in on the ski lease!! If something happens, and damages occur, we expect you to be responsible for yourself and your guests.
LEASE DETAILS
The cost of the lease is $1,000 per member, plus $200 deposit for utilities (we will collect more if utilities run higher). As mentioned earlier November 28- December 22 is available as an option for just $100 more. That’s less than the cost of one weekend per month in a hotel! This includes firewood, basic cable, high speed WiFi internet, utilities. If everybody remembers to turn the heat and water heater down when leaving for the weekend and religiously use the wood-burning stove for primary heat – it is more than enough with guest fees helping offset the costs and we get a refund. Parking is easy, quickly plowed during the winter storms and included in our costs. You will have unlimited use of the townhouse, but NO FULL-TIME RESIDENTS. Last season we had enough guest fees to give everybody back $90 of the $200 utility deposit. That was somewhat higher than I expected, but I’m sure the great snow had people bringing more guests than normal. Most years, the members get a little back, and on lean snow years the utilities might cost a smidge more. But everybody is good about lowering the heat when not there, so that helps a lot.
Sorry, ski lease is now full as of 10/15/11. If you’re interested in joining us or want more information, feel free to call Brendan at 415-867-5967 or email blahiff@gmail.com
