South Lake Tahoe’s ALEWORX As Good As It Gets
Here’s my ‘as good as it gets’ write-up about what I like about South Lake Tahoe’s ALEWORX located in “the crossing at Tahoe Valley shopping mall” at 2050 Lake Tahoe Blvd, South Lake Tahoe, California, U.S.A.
As soon as you step foot inside ALEWORX, the first thing that catches your eye is the impressive wall with dozens of self-serve craft beer taps available; a few other taps such as kombucha, wine, and nitro coffee are also on tap.
Upon entering the eatery, grab an electronic card that monitors your selection of craft beer you dispense out of the tap wall. There are a variety of other drinks in the refrigerator, such as fruit juice, wine, etc. Notably, for those who have a sweet tooth, delicious jumbo cookies are available on the counter.
Since the taps are self-serve, after putting your electronic card from the counter into the dispenser, you can pour the amount of beer you want. I like going across the tap wall and taking a sip/a taste from the craft beer I’m interested in. The screen at the tap has an explanation of the beer. On the screen you can also see a running total cost of the beer dispensed up to that time.
Good eats-wise, what stood out for me, is the oven wood fired thin crust pizza with seemingly endless options amongst many other food choices.
Grab your fave craft beer, order a pizza or other good eats and enjoy watching live sports on their many big screen TVs to view throughout the indoor seating area.
Indoors too stuffy? Outdoor seating with fire pits and umbrellas are positioned to watch and enjoy the live music performances.
To the side of the outdoor seating is a snack bar type of “backyard bar+grill” with a relatively extensive menu and bar. Backdrop to the music stage is a forest with paved walkways.
Once you’re done enjoying your craft beer, head over to the Tahoe Valley shopping mall which has a multitude of recreation retail outlets and other services for athletes/enthusiasts to elevate your adventures around Lake Tahoe. There is an art store with a Tahoe flavor at the mall too. An EV charging station is in the parking lot. Parking access is as easy as it gets at the highway 89/50 intersection on the west end of the city of South Lake Tahoe, California.
Lake Tahoe ALEWORX is among my top three pick for local breweries, a great addition to the multitude of apres ski experiences while meandering the crossing at Tahoe Valley shopping mall. You’ll likely find me nursing a dark chocolate stout beer by the fire-pit taking in the beauty of the high Sierra.

Perry R. Obray grew up in Silicon Valley during the 1960s/70s; have lived in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, San Bernardino Mountains, and the Rocky Mountains, U.S.A. Skied in the 1970s/80s. Learned to snowboard in 1991. Notably, he snowboarded 500 days during his 1st four seasons, three of which were full blown El Ninos. He knows the Tahoe area much better than the San Bernardino mountains. Currently he enjoys combining his love of photography with backcountry snowshoeing and snowboarding. During his American Association of Snowboard Instructors certified snowboard instructor phase, he enjoyed going to multiple resorts for clinic-ing. You’d likely find him riding down the slopes of Heavenly mountain resort, and you’ll likely notice him indulging in his penchant for capturing an occasional photo or two (available to purchase).
